Wounded Warrior U.S.A.
Wounded Warrior USA is a 501 c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the members of the United States Armed Forces injured in combat, accidental injuries and illnesses. The organization offers fishing trips and family focused outdoor activities to Active Duty Wounded Warriors and Gold Star Families. The organization strives to activate civilian support to these individuals and their families as they rehabilitate from their combat and health issues and loss of loved ones. Resources to conduct the activities of the organization are from fishing product companies, private donations, and fundraising events. To date, WW USA pays no salaries or office rent. Everyone involved is an unpaid volunteer and donates their time to ensure that donations are used for events supporting Active Duty Wounded Warriors and Gold Star Families. There are absolutely no charges for Wounded Warrior and Gold Star participation. All fishing equipment, tackle, bait, and hot lunches are provided by WWUSA at every outdoor event. Devil Dog Brew of Colorado is a sponsoring organization, as well as MKR International, Inc. WWUSA organization has continued support from the radio and television media covering its events. WWUSA secured a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Facility Fishing License (free fishing to patients) at the Fort Carson Warrior Transition Battalion, on July 3, 2011, (an annual renewable facility fishing license). Warriors can fish without a fee, as before they were required to purchase a required fishing license.
WWUSA support events have included over 700 wounded, injured, ill warriors, and Gold Star Families since August 10, 2010. The outdoor events are at a private ranch’s, fishing clubs and selected public fishing areas in the Rocky Mountain Region. Most events are personalized for the U.S. Army, Warrior Transition Battalion and Gold Star Families at Fort Carson CO. WWUSA sponsors an annual “Warriors Ice Fishing Tournament” on Monument Lake when ice conditions permit. Other annual events include, Gold Star Family Fishing and Picnic Day, BBQ at Bass Pro Shop Colorado Springs (fund raiser), and including an annual exclusive rodeo and concert.
The organization was founded in August 10, 2010. Mr. Miller serves as the President and CEO. Bill is a service disabled Vietnam Veteran. WWUSA is dedicated to assisting in the rehabilitation and transition process of active duty personnel and veterans with mental and physical challenges. Over the years it has been critical to have dedicated patriotic volunteers participate in events. Wounded Warrior USA acknowledges Mr. Aaron Termain as Liaison Officer for Veterans. There is an Advisory Committee made up of a cross section of Veterans and the Colorado Community.
