The 1st Annual Warriors Top Water Fishing Tournament was perfect fishing fun on the water. Monument Lake was windless throughout the morning hours and the float anglers competing for their catches. Among the entries were two soldiers from Fort Carson, one a Wounded Warrior. Invited guest a Gold Star family, mom and three daughters going after fish from the shoreline. They were aided by volunteers Joyce Quintana, Tammy Whitney and Brian from Premier Roofing. The girls learned to spin cast and each caught their own fish, Mom was just as excited for them.
Everyone was invited to have lunch at 11:30, rest and return to the lake. At 1:15 the tournament was ended by lightening and the announcement to clear the lake was made. Darn lightening anyway.
Other volunteers jumped in where help was needed and performed a great service in making the day successful helping with parking and weighing caught fish. Frank Escolopio and Rod Davis two retired Army Sergeant Majors setup the kitchen and did all the cooking. Premier Roofing participation is always extraordinary with their volunteer employees and unselfish donations of prize gifts. A special thank you to Eric Brown and his staff. Thanks to our volunteers for dedicating their Saturday to help others.
